Prior to forming CS & Associates, Steve served as VP and Director of Acquisitions for Glimcher Realty Trust from November 1997 to August 1998. While there, he participated in several acquisitions including Lloyd Center in Portland and Northtown Shopping Center in Minneapolis.
Before joining Glimcher, Steve was Director of Acquisitions for CBL & Associates Properties Inc.,(CBL) from March 1994 November 1997. CBL is a self managed REIT specializing in the development of community and regional mall shopping centers. Steve’s direct responsibilities included developing an acquisition program, through which he had primary responsibility for all acquisitions of community shopping center and regional mall. Those acquisition duties included proactively investigating attractive investment opportunities and analysis of the properties presenting that analysis to an investment committee, negotiating the purchase and sale agreement, and direct supervision of all aspects of the acquisition process. Other responsibilities include interfacing with sellers, pension fund officers, pension fund advisors, capital markets, tenants, and real estate brokers. Prior to his experience with CBL, Steve served as Vice President, Director of Acquisitions for TCW Realty Advisors from March 1989 - Sept 1992. TCW was a major pension fund advisor with $4 billion under management. Steve executed an acquisition strategy in the retail property arena for TCW and reviewed office acquisitions in select markets (Dallas and Miami). Steve was also responsible for all strip center acquisitions (excluding Washington DC and NY markets) on the east coast. He was directly responsible for decision making and executing the retail leasing strategy for the east coast retail portfolio totaling close to 2 M sq. ft. He had extensive interaction with pension fund managers and their investment committees and he presented potential investments to internal and client investment committees for separate account transactions, including CALSTRS and CALPERS. Steve participated in acquiring 1.4 million square feet of shopping centers totaling $100 million in value.
Steve was a broker with Coldwell Banker CRES from 1983-1989, prior to joining TCW Realty Advisors. Coldwell Banker was the largest commercial real estate brokerage company in the country at the time. He completed several new developments totaling 1.5 million square feet and he was directly responsible for leasing over 1 million square feet of shopping center space. He began his real estate career in Tallahassee, FL selling residential property.
Currently, Steve also serves as Chief Manager of a limited liability company that owns the Oak Ridge Mall in Oak Ridge, TN (Oak Ridge City Center LLC). Steve is currently working on acquiring and developing properties throughout the southeast.
Steve is married to Leland and they have a daughter, Lili. Steve has a Bachelor of Science degree, which he received from Florida State University in 1973.
